You Have a Committee. Now What?

Most committees start with a list of names and a meeting invitation. They should start with a charter. Before deciding who belongs on a committee, organizations need to define why it exists, what it can decide, what it can only recommend and when its work should be reevaluated. Without that clarity, even the right people can end up working within the wrong structure.
